AKC STAR PUPPY

Service Description

This 6-week AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy class is designed to give puppies and their handlers a strong foundation in training, manners, and early social skills. The focus is on building confidence, developing good habits, and creating clear communication between puppy and handler during this important learning stage. This class is appropriate for puppies between 12 weeks and 12 months who are comfortable participating in a group class setting. Each week will include structured training exercises, socialization opportunities, and practical skills that support real-life success. Exercises are broken down into simple, achievable steps so handlers can continue building skills at home between classes. Throughout the course, we will: - Introduce and reinforce foundational obedience skills such as sit, down, come, and leash manners -Work on focus, engagement, and impulse control in a variety of environments - Practice appropriate socialization with other puppies and people - Support positive handling and cooperative care skills Help prepare teams for the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test requirements Puppies who are ready to complete the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test will have the opportunity to be evaluated during the final class. Handlers who successfully pass can then submit their information to the AKC to receive their official S.T.A.R. Puppy recognition. This class is designed to be fun, supportive, and confidence-building for both puppies and their handlers. Held indoors in Air conditioning in a fully matted training room.
